Blueberry, known sometimes as “Berry Blue,” is an indica marijuana strain that was created by crossing Purple Thai and Thai. Blueberry accomplished a lot after winning the High Times Cannabis Cup 2000 for Best Indica, instantly naming it a top tier cannabis strain. The strain has a long history, when famous American breeder DJ Short began experimenting with a number of foreign landrace strains in the 70’s. Blueberry genetics have been passed around for decades, mostly thanks to DJ Short’s collaboration with several seed banks and breeders.
ABOUT BLUEBERRY
Blueberry is a powerful and potent strain that is usually described as a “one hit and quit”, even for experienced weed smokers. Users are immediately hit with a heavy feeling which can be relaxing under the right circumstances, helping consumers to decompress after a long day of work. The sativa genetics produce some mild mental benefits, although these are more in the form of happy feelings than an intelligent conversation; smokers may feel chatty or even giggly. Blueberry, in high enough doses, will leave users drowsy and couch-locked, making it more of a “sit at home and watch The Office” strain rather than a “go out and have fun with friends” strain.
Blueberry has an unmistakable fresh blueberry scent and taste that has forever earned itself a place in our stoner hearts. This strain’s flowers are short and densely packed, typical of indica strains. The dense deep green leaves are somberly flecked with purple and scarlet hues. The leaves are covered in nearly invisible trichomes, which are more difficult to notice than the bright red or orange hairs that come with many similar strains. Blueberry buds are highly sticky and may be difficult to break up by hand, leaving your fingers gooey and smelling like fresh fruit. Many users use Blueberry’s effects to help them manage pain and stress, while aficionados and growers fell for the strain for it’s vibrant colours and high THC concentration, which is known to range from 20% to 24%.
